Showtime Events Newest Intern: Courtney Thompson!

Monday, August 29th, 2011

Showtime Events and Cobblestone Hall are excited to welcome Courtney Thompson as their newest intern. She is 22 years old and a senior at North Carolina State University majoring in Communications, with a concentration in Media. Courtney grew up in Raleigh, NC but moved to Charlotte, NC right before she began high school. She has always been an NC State fan so she knew she would end back up in Raleigh eventually!

Courtney has been interested in event planning for years and has always considered pursuing a career in the field after graduation in December 2011. She recently interned in New York City this summer at La Pomme NYC which is a well known event space in the Chelsea area of the city. While there Courtney was able to work directly with the staff at the venue planning birthday parties, corporate events, fundraisers, and more. But while in the “big city” she realized that she did not want to live anywhere but North Carolina and returned home when her internship ended.

She hopes to continue to gain hands on experience while working with Showtime Events, especially in wedding planning and full event management. Over the next few months Courtney will be assisting with event production and have a chance to experience all aspects of the pitching, selling, planning, and execution process from start to finish.

Away from work Courtney loves food, hanging out with friends, shopping, fashion, traveling, and spending time with her dog Lucy. Some of Courtney’s favorite TV shows include Gossip Girl, The Bachelor, Pretty Little Liars, and The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. She is also an active alumnus of her sorority at NC State, Zeta Tau Alpha.

We are excited to have Courtney on the Showtime Events and Cobblestone Hall team for the next few months. Look for her at events!

Meet Showtime Events New Intern!

Jas McDonald

Jas McDonald

Showtime Events is excited to introduce our newest intern, Jasmian McDonald. Jasmian, known by most as “Jas”, is a 21-year-old senior at North Carolina State University. She is majoring in Communications with a concentration in Public Relations. She is looking forward to graduating in May.

Born in Charlotte, NC, Jas spent most of her life in the small town of Sanford, NC, where she grew up as an only child with her mother and Toy Poodle, Diamond. Always having a passion for entertaining, she was a competitive dancer for 15 years and a cheerleader for her high school.

Over the summer of 2010, Jas got the opportunity to intern with Nordstrom where she fell in love with fashion and event planning. She hopes to get the opportunity to have a career in Fashion Public Relations and Event Planning.

While she is not a huge fan of traveling outside of the country, Jas got the opportunity to travel to Australia in March of 2010 where she described the country as beautiful. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her friends and family, singing, shopping (probably a little too much), going out, and watching television. Some of her favorite shows include Desperate Housewives, Brothers & Sisters, Grey’s Anatomy, Private Practice, and the Real Housewives Franchise. She enjoys working out and has recently taken up spin, or cycling, as her work out of choice in order to counteract her love of food—anything fried to be exact!

While interning at Showtime Events, Jas has been directly involved in the planning and execution of multiple corporate and social events. In the coming months, she will continue to work with the Showtime North Carolina staff and their clients to gain further experience in the special events industry.

Welcome Sarah Seligson back to the Showtime Events team!

Sarah is always smiling!

Showtime Events and Cobblestone Hall are excited to welcome Sarah Seligson back to the NC team. Sarah’s primary focus will be Cobblestone Hall and working with the clients and groups who have booked the venue for their upcoming events. Sarah will handle all aspects of the event from the initial meetings with the clients, to planning all details, and finally to the execution of the big day.

Sarah has been working for Showtime Events since February of 2005. She began working in the North Carolina office before transferring down to the Florida office in 2006. She was down in Florida for about 2 ½ years and worked alongside event producer, Rebecca Scozzafave, as her event coordinator.

Sarah studied Hospitality Management at East Carolina University and moved to London after graduating in 2004. There she worked for a event staffing company and was able to work at everything from Royal Weddings to Movie Premiers. Sarah has always had a huge passion for producing events. She loves all the components that go into making an event happen including the client relationships, the creativity, the planning, and the excitement that happens when everything comes together. Sarah can’t imagine working in any other industry!

Away from work Sarah has an English bulldog named Ziggy. She loves to travel abroad and enjoys running. In 2009, she combined her two passions and trained for her first marathon in Paris, France. She completed the marathon and is starting to train for a second one. Running is a good hobby for Sarah as it offsets the amount of sugar that she intakes on a daily basis. We often have to hide the office’s supply of candy or it will be depleted. Sarah also loves to dance.

We are excited to have Sarah back on the Showtime Events team!

Parkerson - Day Reception

Wednesday, July 7th, 2010

On Saturday July 3, 2010, Sarah Parkerson and Stephen Day  celebrated their marriage with a beautiful garden inspired reception at Cobblestone Hall.
parkersonA delicious menu was provided by Catering Works and beautiful floral arrangements from Petal Pushers helped to make the room look phenomenal.  Growing up in Scotland, the bride wanted traditional Scottish music performed by a live band.  The guests had a blast learning the steps and dancing the night away!  Guests also  had a lot of fun taking pictures in the photo booth  that was complete with funky sunglasses, feather boas, picture frames, and many other creative props.  It was very popular and everyone really enjoyed taking pictures all night!

At the end of the evening, guests lined the cobblestone streets with giant parkerson2sparklers and began to sing The Temptations’ “My Girl” and saw the bride and groom off.  Showtime Events would like to offer a huge congratulations to the bride and groom and wish them many years of happiness!
